Product Name: Verblio
Founder: Wade Green
Product Type: Freelance writing platform
Best For: Freelance writers
Summary: Verblio is a content creation company that connects freelance writers and clients. Unlike other freelancing platforms, freelancers need to submit their work for consideration and are only paid when their work is purchased by the clients.
Overall Ranking: 3/10
What Is Verblio
Relaunched in 2018, located in Boulder, Colorado, Verblio is a content creation platform that connects freelance writers to businesses or individuals that are in need of them.
It helps businesses to supplement their workforces with on-demand talent curated from freelancers.
Verblio was previously known as BlogMutt which was established back in 2010 in a 100-square office in Delaware by Scott Yates and Wade Green.
Unlike other freelancing platforms, Verblio requires you to have your content ready, and you only get paid when someone buys your content. So you can be wasting your time writing tons of content but only get paid for a few. The pay rate is based on the number of words you have written.
How To Work With Verblio
If you are an employer or individual looking to outsource a writing job, you can get your job done by Verblio.
And if you are a freelance writer seeking home-based opportunity, Verblio offers you the chance to do just that. However, do note that they only accept applications from U.S. citizen with a valid Social Security Number.
To get started with Verblio, you will have to fill up some basic details such as name and email address.
Work experience is not required but you must pass some tests before you can take on a job. You will receive a short multiple-choice quiz on proofreading and grammar, and you need to score at least 7 out of 10 to pass. You are only allowed to take the test twice so make sure you answer the questions carefully.
Next, you will be presented with a plagiarism test. Verblio takes plagiarism very seriously. If you are found rewording or paraphrasing other articles, you will be blocked from taking further jobs.
Once you had passed all the test, you can then complete your application by filling out a W-9 tax form before you can start working with them.
One major difference between Verblio and other freelancing platforms is that Verblio only pays you if a client buys your submitted work. Since there is no guarantee that your work will be chosen, you could be very well wasting your time writing without getting anything in return. The only comfort is that you are allowed to recycle your work that has been declined by a client.
How Much Does Verblio Pay?
Verblio’s pay rate starts from $10.50 per 300-word post.
As you progress from Level 1 to a higher level, you will get access to longer tasks – tasks with better pay rate. To advance in level you will need to collect points by completing writing tasks. Bonus points are given when you write the first post for a new client’s request or when you are awarded a 5-star rating for your work.
The pay rate offered by Verblio is as follow:
300 words – $10.50
600 words – $21.00
1,000 words – $50
1,500 words – $90
2,000 words – $130
There is no minimum cash out amount, you are paid once a client purchased your content. Payment can be made via Paypal.

What I Like About Verblio
Since you have the flexibility to decide which jobs to take on, you can choose jobs that fit into your schedule.
You can take on as much or as little work as you want. It can be a side hustle on top of your daily job or a source of extra income as a student. However, don’t expect to get a full-time income straight away from this. Depending on the job availability and whether your work is selected, you may not get the amount of job you want.
What I Don’t Like About Verblio
1. You Only Get Paid When Your Work Is Selected
The way Verblio operates reminds me of how contests work – submit your best work and only the top one gets the reward.
Practice like this is good for the clients – since they get to pick and choose their favourite piece of works. However, it might not work so well for the freelancers. Not to mention the ‘reward’ isn’t so attractive either.
Imagine having to write a 2000-word article and ends up getting rejected. It would be a complete waste of time and you can only hope that similar assignments will appear soon so that you can resubmit your work for consideration.
2. High Competition
As a beginner, you may not have much choice but to take on shorter tasks. It is hard to estimate how much you can earn exactly as there is always uncertainty as to whether your work will be chosen. Your work will be compared against many others so understandably, the competition is very high.
Can I Make Money With Verblio?
You can definitely make some money with Verblio. If you are just looking to sharpen your writing skill, earn some extra pocket money, won’t mind doing some free work, then you can consider this.
However, it is not something you can count on for a steady income.
Due the those reasons stated above, personally I won’t recommend Verblio.
If you are looking for a way to make a passive full-time income online, keep on reading because I have a piece of good news for you.
A Better Way To Make Money Online
If you keep on writing for others, there will come a day when you realise just how much you could have achieved if only you had spent those time writing articles for your own blog instead.
Sometimes, you just need that extra push to get you out of your comfort zone, start thinking long term rather than happily getting few quick bucks here and there!
Look at these people, they are not some extraordinary genius, they are people just like you and me.
And one thing they have in common?
They invest their time and energy on one proven system, which is what I am going to show you.
It is a total package of knowledge, training, and strategies that will guide you from a complete newbie to an extraordinary marketer.
