I came across Easy 1Up when I was researching about Profit Robot. Profit Robot is basically a giant funnel that channels you into another two funnels – Funnel X Roi and Mark Wightley Funnel Franchise. Easy 1Up is one of the programs promoted in Funnel X Roi.
You may, or may not have come across Easy 1Up just like I did. Either way, we are here to find out what Easy 1Up is really about.
For those of you who have been following my website, you’ll know that I always go great length to find out what a product truly is. My objective is to help my readers to look past the hypes surrounding the product, and to be able to make an informed purchase decision based on a clear understanding of the nature of the product.
Before continuing, I want to declare that I am in no affiliation with Easy 1Up, so rest assured that I am not here to give you another sales pitch.
On the contrary, I am going to show you why is this a shady program that you should stay away from.
Now let us begin, shall we?
Easy 1Up Summary
Product Name: Easy 1Up
Founder: Peter Wolfing
Product Type: MLM
Best For: MLM marketers
Summary: Easy 1Up is a pay-to-play system that consists of 6 levels of membership. You get 100% commission from any qualified sales (except the 2nd sales, which will go to the qualified member above you). In order to qualify, your referral has to sign up at the same (or lower) membership level as you.
Overall Ranking: 2/10
What Is Easy 1Up
Easy 1Up claims itself to be an educational platform, where you get training on how to start your own online business. The educational videos were said to be so detailed and extensive, and they take you by the hand through all aspects of making money online.
You can make money with Easy 1Up by promoting their membership package. You get paid immediately 100% of the commission.
However, your 2nd sales will be passed up to the member above you that qualified. Similarly, your referrals’ 2nd sales will also come to you. This is what they called ‘Reversed 1Up‘ plan, which you get to recoup back your investment by performing 1 sale.
The setting up is quick and easy, you don’t even need to have a website, domain or web hosting. You will be given an affiliate ID and all you need to do is to promote that link.
How Does Easy 1Up Really Works
The main product of Easy 1Up is actually their membership program (with training provided in each level of membership), which cost anywhere between $25 to $2000 (extremely overpriced!).
There are in total of 6 levels of membership:
Elevation Basic ($25 +$5)
This is the lowest level of membership, the training covers the basic of network marketing and affiliate marketing.
Elevation Elite ($100 +$10)
This level focuses more on social media marketing.
Vertex ($250 +$25)
Vertex Elite ($500 + $50)
The training here is a mixture of dropshipping and traffic generation.
Vertex Pro ($1000 +$100)
This level introduces you to more social media marketing, traffic generation, and email marketing.
Vertex Live ($2000 +$500)
Other than additional training, members of this level get to attend two events of their choice.
If you look closely, the training provided doesn’t really justify the price that you are paying. The training is only there for recruiting purpose.
If you are looking for training and tools to hone your making money online skill, there are other options out there that better worth your time and money.
Now let me show you what kind of business model Easy 1Up is all about.
You are basically buying their membership just so that you can make money by selling their membership!
They are offering you 100% commissions on qualified sales (except for your second sales). You are qualified as long as your referrals sign up at the same (or lower level) membership level as you.
Looking at how it operates, it reminds me of a couple of similar schemes – MOBE and Digital Altitude. They are both high flying digital MLM companies that came crashing down because of their business practices.
Some Background About MOBE
Just a sidetrack story here…
On the surface, MOBE seems to offer real training and product. However, it was shut down by FTC for fraud in Jun 2018. According to FTC, MOBE had taken $125 million dollars from unsuspecting consumers who were seeking to make money online to better their lives, but instead, they lost thousands of dollars into this scheme.
Before they were shut down, they went great length to sue Kyle, the founder of Wealthy Affiliate, for allegedly calling them ‘another obvious scam’.
Long story short, the whole episode concluded with a happy ending – the truth prevailed, and Kyle donated half of the money awarded from the lawsuit to the victims of MOBE, in order to help them get back on their feet.
I am sharing this because Wealthy Affiliate is a community that I am proud to be in. It is a warm and helpful community, and this culture start all the way from the top!
What I Don’t Like About Easy 1Up
1. Way Overpriced
Remember that there are in total of 6 levels of membership?
You might think that you can sign up for the lowest level just to test the water.
However, at the lowest level of membership, you will not be able to earn commission from referral who sign up at a higher level.
Imagine you are a member of Elevation Basic ($25) and your referral sign up for Vertex Live ($2,000). The commission will not go to you, it will go to the next qualified person above you instead.
That is the sad truth.
In order to make money in a scheme like this, you have to be at the top.
And although you can upgrade your membership at any time, you will have to pay for the FULL membership fee at the level that you are going to join, and not the difference of membership fee between that 2 membership levels.
That’s not all, we haven’t even factor in the cost of engaging paid ads. Paid ads can cost you a fortune especially at the trial and error stage when you are still figuring out the most effective ads campaign.
2. “Pay-to-Play” System
In a pay-to-play system, you have to first purchase the membership for yourself, before you can earn commission by selling it.
Needless to remind you, the membership fee here is really expensive!
3. Pyramid Scheme?
A pyramid scheme is basically a program without real product or services, and members make money by recruiting others into the same membership program.
So is Easy 1Up a pyramid scheme in disguise?
I will let you be the judge.
4. No Refund Policy
There is no free trial and no refund. Any payment decision made is final, no turning back here.
And that is why in any sales, you can get your 100% commission immediately, and directly from your referral.
There is no denying that some people are making good money promoting Easy 1Up.
But come on, there are people who can even make money off selling air (I am serious)!
My point is, Easy 1Up is operating at a grey area here. Personally, I will be really cautious with this scheme.
The only reason anyone would buy into the membership is just so that they can promote it. But not everyone a salesperson. Many who bought into MOBE thought that they are investing in a dream, and they ended up losing thousands of dollars.
